Programme Communication Manager – Mozambique

About the role

The Programme Communication Manager will lead all operational communication activities for Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in the northern province of Cabo Delgado and across northern Mozambique. Based in Pemba, the role supports visibility of MSF’s humanitarian work, informs communities about health interventions, and reinforces the organization’s principles.

Key responsibilities

• Define, implement and supervise communication strategies aligned with MSF standards for programmes in Cabo Delgado and other northern regions.
• Coordinate with the Country Representative in Maputo, Country Coordinator in Pemba, regional and HQ Communications Advisors, and the local Programme Communications Officer.
• Produce and disseminate media content, press releases, and social media updates to raise awareness of MSF activities.
• Manage crisis communications and respond to misinformation affecting programme perception.
• Support ad‑hoc communication activities and meetings in Maputo as needed.

Required profile

• University degree in journalism, communication, development, political science or international relations.
• Minimum of four years’ experience in communication, journalism or public relations, preferably within humanitarian NGOs.
• Demonstrated commitment to MSF principles and experience working in crisis contexts.
• Strong organisational abilities and capacity to work collaboratively in a multicultural team.
