Project Assistant – Cabo Delgado Food Systems Strengthening

About the role

GAIN is recruiting a Project Assistant for the Cabo Delgado Food Systems Strengthening Programme (CDFSS). The role provides administrative, logistical and field‑level support to the programme team, working regularly in communities, markets and project sites across Nampula.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the Project Coordinator, including scheduling, minute‑taking and action tracking.
• Organise field mission logistics – transport, accommodation, per diems and materials – and prepare mission folders and monitoring tools.
• Facilitate timely delivery of programme supplies and maintain the programme calendar.
• Support Project Officers in delivering training, market activations and community sensitisation activities.
• Assist with beneficiary mobilisation, registration, verification and asset‑distribution documentation.
• Liaise with cooperative leaders, vendor associations, NGOs, government and community structures for scheduling and logistics.
• Collect attendance lists, participant records and activity evidence, and transmit field information promptly to the Project Coordinator.
• Archive and document project data, including regular updates to PRISM for management reporting.
• Prepare procurement requests, gather quotations and track delivery of goods and services.

Required profile

• Practical experience in programme support, administration, field coordination or community‑based work.
• Comfortable supporting field activities, beneficiary engagement, community mobilisation, data collection and logistical arrangements.
• Experience in food security, agriculture, community development or enterprise‑support settings is an advantage.
• Familiarity with beneficiary registration, procurement documentation, asset distribution, inventory management or basic financial records is beneficial.
