Project Director – Faith and Community Initiative (Maputo)

About the role

World Vision is seeking a senior leader to direct the Faith and Community Initiative (FCI) in Mozambique. The Project Director will provide overall in‑country leadership, ensuring high‑quality, timely and compliant delivery of the program.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and management for the FCI country program, aligning with the global strategy and results framework.
• Serve as the principal point of contact with the U.S. Embassy, host‑government, Christian Health Association and other key stakeholders.
• Lead the FCI country team and oversee the program budget to achieve project goals.
• Collaborate with the Ministry of Health and faith‑based partners to transition and absorb activities into government ownership and financing.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements and maintain clean audit outcomes.
• Represent the program to donors, government agencies and consortium partners, negotiating transitions and absorptions.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in public health, international development, business/public administration or a related field.
• Minimum 10 years experience managing donor‑funded health programmes, including senior management and staff supervision.
• Proven experience engaging institutional donors, ministries of health and finance, and multi‑organization consortia.
• Demonstrated experience representing programmes to U.S. Embassies, the Global Fund and other partners.
• Track record of ensuring compliance and clean audits on donor‑funded awards.
• Prior Chief of Party, Deputy Chief of Party or senior country programme management experience preferred.

Required skills

• Technical familiarity with integrated health programming (HIV, TB, malaria, maternal and child health, nutrition).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Proficiency in the national/local language(s) is strongly preferred.
