Project Field Coordinator (Consultancy)

About the role

The Project Field Coordinator (Consultancy) will support UN Women’s Japan Supplementary Budget project in Mozambique, focusing on improving resilience and safety of crisis‑affected women and girls in Chiure (Cabo Delgado) and Erati (Nampula). Working under the Country Representative and Programme Specialist, the coordinator will guide implementation, ensure timely delivery of outputs, and liaise with provincial authorities, UN agencies and civil‑society partners.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of emergency non‑food items (NFIs) and livelihood support to 2,800 women and girls, including women heads of households, adolescent mothers and women with disabilities.
• Strengthen capacities of approximately 100 local women’s organization representatives and authorities to promote gender‑responsive emergency preparedness and response.
• Coordinate with humanitarian coordination structures, provincial governments and UN partners to align activities with the Humanitarian‑Development‑Peace nexus.
• Monitor project performance, manage budgets, and report results to UN Women headquarters.
• Facilitate community engagement and ensure gender‑sensitive approaches are integrated into all interventions.

Required profile

• Relevant university degree in social sciences, development studies, gender studies or related field.
• Proven experience in humanitarian or development programmes, preferably in Mozambique or similar contexts.
• Strong knowledge of gender equality, women’s empowerment and crisis response frameworks.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills with government, UN agencies and NGOs.
