Senior Backend Engineer – Elixir & Phoenix (Remote)

About the role

Remote is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help build the next generation of its global HR platform. You will work on a highly‑scalable Elixir/Phoenix backend, creating APIs, integrations and automation tools that enable companies to hire, pay, and manage international teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Elixir, Phoenix and PostgreSQL.
• Build and evolve APIs and integrations for core product features.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (frontend, SRE, QA) to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and manage deployments on AWS.
• Drive observability, domain boundary definition, and automation workflow improvements.

Required profile

• Proven engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
• Experience designing or adopting automation/agentic workflows and iterating on them.
• Ability to think critically about architecture, ownership, and performance.
