Senior Electrician - Telecommunications Infrastructure

About the role

Heading Moçambique is recruiting a Senior Electrician to be based in Maputo, Mozambique. The role covers electrical maintenance and support of telecommunications equipment, network sites, base stations, data centres and power backup systems, working in a 24/7 managed services environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair electrical systems supporting telecommunications equipment and network sites
• Maintain DC power systems, AC distribution, rectifiers, UPS systems, batteries, generators and power backup systems
• Troubleshoot electrical and power issues affecting network availability and respond to incidents and outages, including emergency and after-hours call-outs
• Support maintenance of base stations, data centres, transmission sites, exchanges and customer network facilities
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance according to agreed SLA and OLA requirements
• Inspect, test and measure equipment, ensure proper earthing, bonding, cabling and electrical protection, and keep accurate maintenance records
• Install and terminate electrical cables, DB boards, breakers, isolators and associated equipment
• Carry out site surveys and give technical input for electrical upgrades, new installations and network expansion
• Liaise with customers, subcontractors and technical teams, and work with Network Operations, Field Maintenance, Transmission, Power and Managed Services teams

Required profile

• Qualified or registered electrician with relevant electrical trade certification
• Experience in telecommunications, network infrastructure, data centres or critical power environments
• Knowledge of AC/DC power systems, UPS, batteries, generators, rectifiers and distribution systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics
• Experience with fault finding, testing and preventative maintenance
• Knowledge of electrical safety requirements and working-at-height/site safety procedures
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to customer and network sites
• Ability to work in a 24/7 managed services environment, including standby and emergency call-outs
