Senior Ports and Shipping Specialist (Non‑Key Expert)

About the role

NTU International A/S is seeking a Senior Ports and Shipping Specialist to support the Global Gateway Transport and Urban Facility 2 project. The expert will provide technical, policy and investment advice for maritime, port and inland‑waterways initiatives across Sub‑Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia‑Pacific.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prepare and implement maritime, port and inland‑waterways infrastructure projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses.
• Support port and logistics master planning, connectivity planning and multimodal transport integration.
• Advise on port infrastructure development, maritime transport services and inland‑waterways systems.
• Assist with procurement, tendering, implementation supervision, operation and maintenance planning.
• Promote sustainable maritime transport, port decarbonisation, energy efficiency, electrification of port operations and shore‑side electricity.
• Provide guidance on green port infrastructure, circular‑economy approaches and environmental performance.
• Integrate climate‑resilience, disaster‑risk reduction and sustainability considerations into maritime projects.
• Contribute to policy, regulatory and institutional reforms and build capacity of public and port authorities.
• Coordinate stakeholders including IFIs, development partners and European standards bodies.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in maritime engineering, maritime sciences, port engineering or transport.
• Extensive experience in maritime and port infrastructure projects, preferably in international development contexts.
• Proven ability to deliver technical assistance missions and manage multi‑stakeholder collaborations.
