Senior Technical Advisor – Newborn & Child Health

About the role

FHI 360 is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor to lead newborn and child health (NCH) activities for the Alcançar project in Mozambique. Based in Maputo with up to 40% travel to Nampula and other provinces, you will support both the project team and the Ministry of Health (MISAU) in improving health services for children.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to the Alcançar child health team for implementation of evidence‑based NCH, nutrition, and immunization interventions.
• Support MISAU in developing guidelines, policies, strategies, reports and workplans related to newborn and child health.
• Represent Alcançar in MISAU technical working groups and partner meetings.
• Document effective implementation approaches to inform national policy and technical discussions.
• Travel regularly to project provinces to monitor activities and provide on‑site guidance.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, medicine, nursing, nutrition, or a related field.
• Extensive experience (5+ years) in newborn and child health, immunization, and nutrition programming.
• Proven ability to work with government ministries and international donors.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently within Mozambique.
