Trade Operations Officer

About the role

The Trade Operations Officer will support the processing of Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Documentary Collections and Supply Chain Finance transactions. You will ensure compliance with international trade rules and regulatory requirements while providing high‑quality service to customers and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Process and monitor trade finance transactions, ensuring adherence to UCP 600, URDG 758, ISP98 and other applicable standards.
• Perform fit‑for‑processing checks, including KYC, AML red‑flags, legal wording and pricing verification.
• Maintain accurate records of exposures, bank limits and transaction details in systems such as FCC, IMEX and GEMs.
• Support front‑ and middle‑office teams, manage third‑party service providers and contribute to process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in trade finance, specifically with letters of credit, documentary collections and trade loans.
• Strong understanding of international trade regulations (UCP 600, ISP98, URDG 758, ISBP, URR 725, URC 522).
• Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and communicate effectively at all organisational levels.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SWIFT messaging (e.g., MT710) and bank‑to‑bank reimbursement processes.
• Hands‑on experience with trade finance systems (FCC, IMEX, GEMs) and financial modelling.
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as sanctions policies, exchange control rulings and trade finance standard policies.
