Unit Secretary (PCU) – Monday to Friday 3pm‑7pm

About the role

The Unit Secretary (PCU) provides front‑line administrative support for a patient care unit, ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate record‑keeping during the afternoon shift (3 p.m. – 7 p.m.). The role combines reception duties, supply management, and data entry to support clinical staff and enhance patient experience.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients, families, and visitors, answer phone calls, and direct inquiries to appropriate personnel.
• Perform clerical tasks related to admissions, discharges, and transfers according to nursing procedures.
• Prepare and process requisitions for diagnostic and therapeutic services as directed.
• Maintain unit supply inventory at established par levels.
• Enter and verify patient charges, compile statistical data, and generate management reports.
• Log patient information, retrieve records, and ensure confidentiality.
• Identify and report potential patient safety risks.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least two years of clerical experience in a health‑care setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Computer skills for data entry and inventory management.
