Waste Management Officer for Camps

About the role

The Waste Management Officer will monitor and control daily waste contractor activities within the assigned zone, ensuring compliance with contracts, procedures, and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor contractor performance, verify compliance with collection schedules, routing, equipment condition, and safety procedures.
• Conduct field inspections, record photographic evidence, and report non‑conformances to the Waste Management Coordinator.
• Verify waste segregation, classification, labeling, and storage at generation points and waste management facilities.
• Track waste quantities, segregation compliance, and prepare daily zone reports and contribute to weekly/monthly environmental reporting.
• Deliver toolbox talks and awareness briefings on waste segregation and environmental best practices to camp staff and contractors.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Science or related field.
• Field experience in waste management or water‑wastewater operations, preferably on industrial or construction sites.
• Basic understanding of environmental permits, waste classification and wastewater treatment principles.
• Good communication skills in English (Portuguese is an asset) and ability to work in a remote, multicultural environment.
