Water Supply & WASH Institutional Consultant – Zambezia Province

About the role

UNICEF Mozambique is seeking an experienced consultant to provide technical and operational support for water supply and WASH services in schools, health facilities and other public institutions across Zambezia Province. The role focuses on field‑level implementation, quality assurance, monitoring and coordination with government and partner agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance for the design, construction and supervision of borehole drilling, solar water supply systems and institutional sanitation works.
• Support partners and government officials in implementing UNICEF WASH standards and best practices.
• Develop and maintain monitoring tools, track progress, and document results for reporting.
• Coordinate field activities, ensure timely delivery of infrastructure, and address operational challenges.
• Provide regular updates and recommendations to the programme team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, water engineering, hydrogeology or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in WASH programmes, including at least 3 years supervising borehole drilling and institutional sanitation construction.
• Fluent in Portuguese (spoken and written); knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
• Experience working with government entities and development partners, preferably in Zambezia Province.
