Water Supply & WASH Institutional Consultant – Zambezia Province

About the role

UNICEF Mozambique is seeking an experienced consultant to provide technical and operational support for water supply and WASH services in schools, health facilities and other public institutions across Zambezia Province. The role focuses on improving child health, school attendance and community resilience through high‑quality infrastructure delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical assistance and field‑level implementation support for water supply and institutional sanitation projects.
• Monitor progress, ensure compliance with UNICEF WASH standards and conduct quality assurance of infrastructure components.
• Coordinate with government agencies, partners and local contractors to facilitate project execution.
• Develop and maintain monitoring systems, collect data and document results.
• Provide guidance on solar‑powered water supply solutions and environmental management practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, water engineering, hydrogeology or related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in WASH programmes, including at least 3 years in borehole drilling and water supply or institutional sanitation construction.
• Fluent in Portuguese (spoken and written); knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
• Experience working with government bodies and development partners, preferably in Zambezia Province.
