Electro-Mechanical Engineer – Maputo Project

About the role

CDM Smith is seeking an Electro-Mechanical Engineer to support the Maputo Urban Transformation Project, a World Bank‑financed initiative to improve solid waste infrastructure in Mozambique. The role will focus on the design, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of electro‑mechanical systems for the KaTembe Sanitary Landfill and the Hulene Transfer Station.

Key responsibilities

• Review and provide technical oversight of electro‑mechanical designs.
• Supervise installation and construction activities on‑site.
• Manage contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Conduct testing, commissioning and handover of systems.
• Ensure quality assurance, documentation and adherence to environmental, social, health and safety standards.
• Support capacity building and knowledge transfer to local teams.

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Relevant experience in electro‑mechanical engineering for large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Ability to work on‑site in Maputo for the duration of the assignment.
