Project Electrician – Maintenance & Repair

About the role

Alistair Group is seeking a skilled Project Electrician to join its fast‑growing operations across East and Southern Africa. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of electrically powered equipment used in logistics, construction, and mining projects.

Key responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair and service electronic and automotive‑controlled vehicle systems.
• Install, maintain and troubleshoot auto‑electrical machines, forklifts, cranes, generators and trucks.
• Interpret electrical wiring diagrams, schematics and engine timing controls.
• Perform lock‑out/tag‑out procedures and ensure all safety signage is displayed.
• Conduct PAT testing and routine workplace electrical equipment maintenance.
• Complete work orders, maintenance reports and update the fleet maintenance software.
• Participate in toolbox talks and contribute safety topics.
• Support both planned and unplanned preventative maintenance activities.

Required profile

• Secondary education with a certification or diploma in Auto‑Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse cultures.
• Strong communication, administration and leadership abilities.
• Good eyesight, balance and eye‑hand‑foot coordination.

Required skills

• Auto‑electrical system troubleshooting.
• Electrical wiring diagram interpretation.
• Engine timing and control system adjustment.
• Lock‑out/tag‑out safety procedures.
• Portable Appliance Testing (PAT).
• Repair of forklifts, cranes, generators and trucks.
• Fuse, lamp and ignition replacement.
• Use of fleet maintenance software for data entry and reporting.
