About the role
The Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Pemba, Mozambique is seeking a proactive Administrative Assistant (TJO) to support the Head of Office and ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations across human resources, finance, procurement and travel administration.
Key responsibilities
- Manage HR processes such as recruitment, relocation, staff separation and training, ensuring compliance with UN rules.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing budget proposals, track expenditures, and coordinate with finance staff on budget reports.
- Draft routine correspondence, handle office logistics, maintain equipment, organise events and act as petty‑cash custodian.
- Provide operational support in Umoja for procurement, prepare specifications, monitor contracts, inspect deliveries and process contractor invoices.
- Serve as the focal point for travel administration in Umoja for the field presence.
Required profile
- Demonstrated ability to perform a broad range of administrative functions within a UN or similar international environment.
- Familiarity with UN rules and procedures related to HR, finance and procurement.
- Strong organisational skills and capacity to supervise junior staff.
