Deputy Area Coordinator (Humanitarian)

About the role

Under the supervision of the Area Coordinator, the Deputy Area Coordinator will support the implementation of Action contre la Faim programmes in the Cabo Delgado area of Mozambique. The role combines programme management, team leadership and external coordination to ensure high‑quality delivery in a complex humanitarian context.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and lead a portion of the programme team, ensuring effective performance and compliance with contractual requirements.
• Coordinate planning, implementation and monitoring of ACF projects in the Cabo Delgado area, maintaining high technical standards.
• Facilitate internal and external coordination with partners, donors and support functions to enhance programme delivery.
• Contribute to ACF’s strategic positioning and assist in the development of new project proposals.
• Promote gender equality and protection principles throughout programme activities.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in development, humanitarian aid, international relations or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of field experience in humanitarian project management.
• Experience in team management and working in complex humanitarian settings.
• Knowledge of ACF sectors (nutrition‑health, WASH, food security & livelihoods, emergency response, mental health & psychosocial support) and donor requirements.
• Understanding of support functions such as security, logistics, finance and HR.
• Fluent written and spoken English; proficiency in Portuguese, Spanish or Italian is required.

What we offer

• Fixed‑term contract under French legislation (12 months, renewable until 30 September 2027).
• Monthly gross salary ranging from €2 332 to €2 676, including a 13th month.
• Pension insurance reimbursement of 16 % of gross salary for non‑French citizens.
• Annual salary increase of 6 % after the first year.
