Carbon Project Manager (Mozambique)

About the role

BURN is seeking a Carbon Project Manager to lead the planning, coordination and execution of carbon‑financed Improved Cook Stove (ICS) projects in Mozambique. The role ensures all project phases—from inception to carbon‑credit issuance—are delivered on time, within scope and on budget.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a detailed project Gantt chart covering all tasks from start‑up to carbon‑credit issuance.
• Prepare full project budgets, monitor expenses and produce regular financial reports.
• Support the Carbon Technical Officer and Manager with documentation for each carbon‑process milestone.
• Coordinate stakeholder consultations, local meetings and communication materials.
• Organise, lead and report on baseline surveys, kitchen performance tests, annual monitoring, leakage and water‑boiling surveys.
• Oversee field data collection, recruit and train enumerators, and manage logistics for on‑the‑ground activities.
• Monitor compliance with internal controls, program requirements and verification standards, escalating risks as needed.
• Assist with project location selection, integrating quality and risk considerations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing environmental or carbon‑finance projects.
• Strong ability to plan, budget and track complex multi‑stage projects.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, including organising local meetings and consultations.
• Willingness to travel extensively within Mozambique and internationally.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to quality assurance and risk mitigation.
