Cost Controller – LNG Project (Oil & Gas)

About the role

We are looking for a Cost Controller to join a major LNG project in the oil and gas sector. The role will support cost stewardship throughout execution and close‑out phases, ensuring accurate budgeting, forecasting and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain cost control processes for assigned departmental functions.
• Perform life‑of‑project cost stewardship activities including budgeting, forecasting, change management, cost reporting, commitment tracking, invoice verification and cash‑flow projection.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, financial analyses and budget updates in coordination with scope owners.
• Identify and track cost risks and opportunities; calculate monthly Value of Work Done (VOWD).
• Review and verify invoices against contractual terms and finance assurance requirements.
• Support contract cost variation assessments, Request for Services administration and SOX audit deliverables.
• Maintain data integrity in cost control systems (SAP UNISOL) and liaise with Finance and Project Management teams.
• Collect lessons learned and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HSE and governance standards.

Required profile

• Engineer or Bachelor degree in Business Management or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of cost control experience, preferably in oil & gas or large industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, change management, financial reporting and cost control methodologies.
• Experience with Cost Breakdown Structures, Work Breakdown Structures, Earned Value Management Systems and contingency management.
• Fluency in English and Portuguese; French is a plus.
• Mozambican nationality and willingness to travel as required.
