Deputy Cost Control Manager & Finance Interface (Resident, Maputo)

About the role

Join one of the world’s largest LNG developments as the Deputy Cost Control Manager and Finance Interface. Based in Maputo, you will support cost governance, budgeting, forecasting and finance integration across a multi‑billion‑dollar energy project.

Key responsibilities

• Deputise for the Cost Control Manager and lead a team of cost controllers responsible for Owner’s Costs.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cost reporting, commitment tracking, change management and cash‑flow projections.
• Consolidate monthly and Life‑of‑Project cost reports and drive annual budget preparation.
• Monitor cost risks and opportunities, supporting budget holders with mitigation plans.
• Act as the primary interface between Cost Control and Finance, coordinating accrual reviews, cash calls, inter‑company reconciliations and audit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with Joint Venture accounting and cost‑recoverability rules.
• Support SAP cost‑control structure implementation, including WBS, cost centres and allocation methodologies.
• Lead cost‑control activities during internal and external audits and promote financial discipline across the project organisation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in cost control, project controls, finance or cost engineering on major Oil & Gas projects.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
• Fluent English; French and/or Portuguese are advantageous.

Required skills

• Advanced SAP user experience.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
