Deputy Security Manager – Unmanned Aerial Systems & Airspace

About the role

The Deputy Security Manager will lead airspace security for a major energy site in Afungi, Cabo Delgado. You will oversee all unmanned aerial system (UAS) and counter‑UAS (C‑UAS) operations, ensuring continuous situational awareness and compliance with safety and security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage airspace security, including UAS missions and C‑UAS systems.
• Plan, conduct and supervise surveillance, reconnaissance and area‑assessment flights in coordination with civil aviation authorities.
• Maintain continuous Airspace Situational Awareness (ASA) and ensure compliance with SOPs, VPSHR and local regulations.
• Supervise drone and counter‑drone teams, enforce qualification standards and operational discipline.
• Oversee installation, maintenance and operational readiness of multimillion‑dollar UAS, radar, RF detection and jamming equipment.
• Implement HSE procedures, monitor malaria risk and ensure 100 % safety compliance.
• Coordinate flight authorisations, No‑Fly Zones and secure aerial corridors.
• Produce daily analysis, reports and alerts on aerial activity and incidents.
• Train internal staff on drone risks and airspace security procedures.
• Draft technical documentation for tenders, bills of quantities and contract scopes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in airspace security, UAS and C‑UAS operations.
• Strong knowledge of civil and military aviation regulations.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a high‑risk, tropical environment.
• Experience with HSE implementation for aerial operations.
