District Field Technician

About the role

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is seeking District Field Technicians to support the AquaVita+ Mozambique Project in Machanga and Chibabava districts. The role focuses on strengthening smallholder farmers, promoting climate‑resilient practices, and facilitating agricultural input distribution through e‑voucher systems.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and strengthen Farmer Field Schools (FFS) to provide extension services, training and capacity‑building for smallholder farmers.
• Support the implementation of e‑voucher mechanisms for seeds, fertilizers and tools, including beneficiary registration, awareness‑raising, monitoring and reporting.
• Assist agro‑dealers with documentation, training, troubleshooting and mobile sales activities.
• Promote Sustainable Land Management practices such as agroforestry, conservation agriculture, minimum tillage, soil cover and crop rotation.
• Facilitate polycropping and diversified farming systems.
• Support Voluntary Carbon Market initiatives through farmer mobilisation, farm mapping and data collection.

Required profile

• Experience in rural extension, farmer organisation and capacity development.
• Familiarity with sustainable agricultural production systems and climate‑resilient practices.
• Ability to work closely with project coordinators, technical advisors and field experts.
• Willingness to work in field locations within Machanga and Chibabava districts.
