About the role
The Resettlement Agriculture Livelihoods Officer will oversee the implementation of livelihood programs for resettled communities in Afungi, Mozambique. Reporting to the Livelihoods Coordinator and Supervisor, the role ensures that agricultural, fisheries and diversified livelihood benefits reach eligible households effectively.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct daily field oversight of livelihood implementation partners, verifying reported progress on the ground.
- Ensure field verification and distribution of agricultural starter packs, replacement trees, DUATs, fishing kits and other in‑kind benefits to impacted households.
- Sign delivery certificates and compensation agreements on behalf of the project, checking completeness and filing them.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, mobilising affected communities to secure successful delivery of livelihood commitments.
- Identify eligible households, track delivery of benefits using monitoring tools, and maintain household agreement records.
- Monitor safety, health, environmental and social aspects of partners’ work scopes and support performance improvement.
- Act as the focal point between implementation partners, the project, households and communities for agricultural, fisheries and diversified livelihood programs.
- Participate in meetings with government officials, community leaders and households as required.
Required profile
- University degree in a relevant field such as rural development, agronomy or agricultural economics.
- Minimum three years of experience engaging communities for livelihood re‑establishment and development.
- Proven experience managing and monitoring implementation partners in the field.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken); ability to communicate in Kiswahili, Makue or Makua is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of building relationships with local communities, government authorities, NGOs and CSOs.
- Mozambican nationality and residence in the local area are considered advantages.
