Waste Management Coordinator (Mozambique)

About the role

The Waste Management Coordinator will oversee all waste handling activities across the site, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient operations. This role combines contractor management, technical supervision of incineration and composting processes, and environmental reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and monitor waste management contractors across site operations.
• Track contractor KPIs, SLAs, manpower, certifications and overall performance.
• Oversee incineration plant operations, maintenance and technical integrity.
• Assess combustion systems, burners, refractory linings, fuel trains, draft fans and instrumentation.
• Review breakdowns, contractor diagnoses, root causes and corrective actions.
• Supervise composting operations, including feedstock, moisture, temperature, aeration and curing.
• Coordinate segregation and traceability of organic, mixed, metal, construction and hazardous waste.
• Maintain waste manifests, weighing records, certificates and hazardous waste inventories.
• Monitor emissions and ensure compliance with environmental permit limits.
• Lead and supervise Waste Management Officers across assigned zones and prepare regular waste and environmental reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor's Degree or Higher Diploma in Mechanical, Process, Chemical or Environmental Engineering.
• Extensive experience in waste management operations, preferably within LNG, oil & gas or large industrial facilities.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of incineration systems and waste treatment processes.
• Experience with composting and organic waste management.
• Knowledge of hazardous and non‑hazardous waste classification, handling and disposal.
• Contractor management and KPI/SLA monitoring.
• Environmental permits, emissions monitoring and regulatory compliance.
