Driver - Mueda, Mozambique

About the role

NRC is looking for a driver for its Mueda office in Mozambique. The driver transports NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods to approved destinations within an area, country or other location, while ensuring the safety and security of passengers, goods and the vehicle.

Key responsibilities

• Transport NRC staff, visitors, documents and goods to designated destinations when officially approved
• Ensure the safety and security of passengers, goods and the vehicle
• Immediately report accidents, breakdowns and needs for repair and maintenance
• Respect local traffic regulations and NRC logistical and vehicle policies
• Maintain the trip logbook and keep the vehicle in proper, clean condition with enough fuel and checked technical state
• In liaison with the line manager, arrange repairs and servicing, and ensure the vehicle has all required documents and equipment
• Provide logistical support during trainings and workshops and perform other duties assigned by the line manager
• Work closely with the Fleet focal person of the Logistics department so that the movement plan is followed
• Be flexible to work day, night, weekend and public holiday shifts

Required profile

• Minimum secondary school education
• Valid professional driver's licence (C1-G, C-G or CE)
• Experience as a driver in a humanitarian or recovery context
• Previous experience in complex and volatile contexts
• Documented results related to the position's responsibilities
• Defensive driving and first aid training is an advantage

Required skills

• Knowledge of the geographic areas where NRC operates
• Fluency in written and spoken Portuguese
• Some knowledge of English
• Fluency in languages spoken in Cabo Delgado (Kimwani, Makua, Makonde)
