Supply Chain Buyer
World Vision · Nampula

About the role
World Vision is hiring a Supply Chain Buyer for its Nampula office, a local position based in Mozambique. The role executes day-to-day procurement transactions in line with World Vision's SCM policy and procedures, approved procurement plans, system workflows, donor requirements and customer service standards. It covers purchase requisition review, transactional sourcing, purchase orders, supplier follow-up and documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Review purchase requisitions for completeness (specifications, quantities, delivery location, need-by date, budget, supporting documents) and confirm whether an existing contract, catalogue or supplier agreement covers them; follow up with requesters and escalate delays or complex issues.
- Carry out transactional sourcing for routine, one-off, low-risk or non-contracted purchases, request quotations, compare offers and document the supplier selection rationale.
- Create and update purchase orders, release them through the approval workflow, issue them to suppliers and handle PO change requests with requesters, budget owners, Finance and suppliers.
- Maintain complete procurement records (requisitions, approvals, POs, quotations, supplier correspondence, evaluation notes, delivery documents) in the approved system or file.
- Follow up with suppliers on acknowledgements, delivery timelines, invoices and performance, and coordinate with logistics, warehouse and receiving staff.
- Ensure daily buying complies with World Vision SCM policy, donor rules and local requirements, respecting segregation of duties and escalating compliance issues early.
- Support procurement planning by guiding requesters on specifications, lead times, contracts and catalogues, and identify recurring needs for category sourcing or framework agreements.
- Support goods receipt, invoice readiness and PO closure, and provide basic guidance to requesters while taking part in training and process improvement.
Required profile
- University degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Finance or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in supply chain, procurement operations, systems support, procurement reporting, data analysis, compliance or performance management.
- Portuguese proficiency; English fluency preferred.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
- Local applicants only; the position is based in the Nampula office and relocation expenses are not covered.
