About the role
The World Bank is seeking a local economist to join its Fiscal Policy and Growth (FPG) unit in Maputo, Mozambique. You will support policy dialogue, financing operations, and analytical work that strengthen macro‑fiscal foundations and promote inclusive, private‑sector‑led growth across Southern and East Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct economic analysis and prepare lending documentation for FPG projects.
- Support ministries of finance, planning, and trade in reform agendas related to debt sustainability, public expenditure, and domestic resource mobilization.
- Contribute to policy dialogue, technical assistance, and capacity‑building activities.
- Collaborate with the EAEM2 unit covering 14 countries to ensure coherent macro‑fiscal strategies.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in economics, public finance, or a related field.
- Experience in macro‑fiscal analysis, debt management, or public sector reform.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate with multi‑country teams.
