Emergency Response Coordinator – Oil & Gas (Mozambique)

About the role

The Emergency Response Coordinator will lead safety and emergency preparedness for a prestigious oil and gas company operating in Mozambique. Reporting to senior managers, the role ensures compliance with company policies, local legislation, and best‑practice emergency response standards.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary coordinator during emergency incidents, drills, and exercises, ensuring effective response and documentation.
• Develop, implement, and maintain emergency response (ER) systems, procedures, and related documentation.
• Review contractor ER documentation, monitor compliance, and provide feedback to supervisors.
• Maintain ER training records, competency registers, and duty rosters for all relevant personnel.
• Facilitate ER audits, inspections, investigations, and post‑incident reviews to drive continuous improvement.
• Oversee fire‑fighting teams, manage day‑to‑day activities, and evaluate firefighting strategies.

Required profile

• University degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in emergency response or related safety roles.
• Strong written and verbal English skills; Portuguese or French fluency is advantageous.
• Ability to work autonomously in fast‑paced, cross‑cultural environments and engage with multiple stakeholders.
