Engineering and Maintenance Manager

About the role

The Engineering & Maintenance Manager will lead all engineering and maintenance activities across the company’s downstream fuel operations, covering retail, distribution, ground fuels, LPG, aviation and B2B assets. The role ensures assets are safe, reliable, compliant and cost‑effective while supporting business continuity, growth and capital projects in diverse African environments.

Key responsibilities

• Lead engineering and maintenance functions across multi‑asset downstream operations.
• Implement engineering policies, standards and maintenance strategies aligned with corporate objectives.
• Establish and manage preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Oversee asset integrity frameworks, including inspections, testing and certifications.
• Support and govern capital projects, refurbishments and upgrades, ensuring smooth handover to operations.
• Ensure compliance with HSE, process‑safety, petroleum, LPG and aviation regulations.
• Develop and manage OPEX maintenance and engineering‑related CAPEX budgets, driving cost optimisation.
• Manage contractors, service providers and OEMs, ensuring competency, safety compliance and performance.
• Lead and develop engineering and maintenance teams, establishing training, competency frameworks and succession plans.
• Establish KPIs for maintenance, reliability, safety and cost performance and report to senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading multi‑disciplinary engineering and maintenance teams in downstream fuel operations.
• Strong knowledge of asset integrity, reliability and HSE regulations in petroleum, LPG and aviation sectors.
• Demonstrated ability to manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets and drive cost optimisation.
• Experience overseeing capital projects, refurbishments and handover to operations.
• Excellent stakeholder management with regulators, JV partners and internal functions.
