Environmental Advisor - Upstream

About the role

The Upstream Environmental Advisor works on a 4‑by‑4 week rotational schedule from Afungi, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. Reporting to the Upstream HSE Manager, the advisor liaises with lenders, Area 4, and the TEPMA1 HSSE and Medical teams to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and the implementation of the project’s EIA, ESHIA, and EMPs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and implement the Project Regulatory Compliance Plan and Environmental Management Plan.
• Assist the Upstream HSE Manager with environmental and regulatory activities and promote best environmental practices.
• Obtain and track project permits, licences, and approvals, ensuring ongoing compliance.
• Interface with design and execution teams to embed company environmental standards into project designs.
• Recommend and oversee mitigation measures for identified environmental impacts.
• Collaborate with EPCI contractors to develop and review Environmental & Regulatory (E&R) plans, including Waste Management and Spill Response Plans.
• Ensure alignment of EPCI monitoring procedures with environmental management requirements for both shallow and deep‑water construction.
• Manage EPCI environmental monitoring data and reports, facilitating communication with project, biodiversity, lender, and local authority stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in upstream environmental compliance and regulatory affairs.
• Familiarity with oil & gas infrastructure projects, including pipelines, manifolds, and umbilicals.
• Ability to work in a rotational shift pattern and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) development and review.
• Environmental Management Plan (EMP) creation and implementation.

• Collaboration with EPCI contractors on environmental plans.
