Field Communications Intern

About the role

The Field Communications Intern will support UNDP Mozambique’s emergency programme in Quelimane by facilitating community‑level communication, documentation, and feedback processes. Working under the supervision of the Communications Analyst, the intern will help ensure that programme information is accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Support the collection and documentation of content from field activities.
• Assist in gathering community feedback and facilitating learning loops.
• Promote ethical and inclusive communication practices.
• Implement community communication and engagement activities that raise awareness of programme services.
• Disseminate accessible information on services, referral pathways, and support mechanisms.
• Support awareness and behavior‑change initiatives on gender‑based violence prevention, women’s and girls’ rights, and inclusion of persons with disabilities.
• Organise and document community dialogues, outreach sessions, and engagements with local leaders, youth, women’s groups, and associations.
• Prepare community‑friendly communication materials such as briefs, posters, photo documentation, and short videos.
• Collect field observations on information gaps, barriers to access, and community perceptions to inform adaptive programming.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree programme (e.g., communications, development studies, social sciences).
• Strong interest in community engagement, gender equality, and inclusive communication.
• Ability to work under supervision and coordinate with programme teams at provincial and district levels.
