Finance Manager – Mozambique Operations

About the role
The Finance Manager will take full responsibility for the finance and administration function of the Mozambique operations, supporting the transition of a newly acquired hospitality business and overseeing financial records, systems, controls and reporting for multiple group entities.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and maintain accounting records, systems and reporting structures for Mozambique entities.
- Prepare monthly management accounts with variance analysis against budgets and forecasts.
- Manage all tax compliance requirements, including Corporate Income Tax, VAT, PAYE and withholding taxes.
- Oversee regulatory compliance such as APIEX, customs, tourism licensing and other government reporting.
- Handle cash flow forecasting, treasury needs and foreign exchange transactions.
- Review and reconcile balance‑sheet accounts, creditor balances, intercompany balances and bank statements.
- Process supplier invoices, payments and enforce procurement controls.
- Administer payroll in line with Mozambique labour legislation.
- Maintain fixed‑asset registers and track capital expenditure, including development and construction costs.
- Keep accurate work‑in‑progress accounting for lodge development and infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate importation processes, customs duties and clearing documentation for construction materials and operational supplies.
- Prepare annual budgets, revised forecasts and long‑term cash‑flow projections.
- Support external and internal audits, due‑diligence processes and financial controls development.
- Liaise with banks, auditors, tax advisors, lawyers, suppliers and government authorities.
Required profile
- Strong understanding of hospitality and lodge operations, including development and work‑in‑progress accounting.
- Experience with foreign exchange management, customs and importation procedures, APIEX and investment compliance.
- Proven ability to implement procurement controls and manage project cash‑flow.
- Capability to work closely with development teams and head‑office finance functions to ensure accurate reporting and governance.
