Head of Supply Chain Services

About the role

The Head of Supply Chain Services will provide strategic leadership to ensure uninterrupted mining operations at Montepuez Ruby Mining. The role focuses on delivering cost‑effective, compliant, and digitally enabled supply chain processes while building strong stakeholder trust.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement end‑to‑end supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Provide commercial expertise and advisory support to Gemfields projects in Mozambique.
• Drive governance, transparency and compliance across all supply chain functions.
• Champion digitalisation initiatives, including ERP implementation, automation and reporting dashboards.
• Lead procurement planning, vendor selection and negotiations to achieve cost savings and mitigate risk.
• Establish long‑term supplier partnerships to secure continuity of supply.
• Oversee inventory management systems, conduct stock audits and maintain optimal stock levels.
• Ensure safe storage, security and accurate reporting of stock and diesel.
• Manage logistics networks to guarantee timely delivery of goods and control transport costs.
• Track KPIs such as savings achieved, stock turnover and budget variance, and report financial performance to senior management.
• Lead, mentor and develop a cross‑functional team in procurement, warehouse and logistics.

Required profile

• Proven strategic leadership experience in supply chain or logistics, preferably within mining or heavy‑industry environments.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to advise on project‑level procurement.
• Demonstrated ability to drive governance, transparency and regulatory compliance.
• Experience leading digital transformation initiatives, especially ERP implementation.
• Expertise in procurement planning, vendor negotiation and supplier relationship management.
• Solid background in inventory control, stock auditing and logistics network optimisation.
• Track record of managing budgets, KPIs and delivering cost‑saving results.
• Effective team leadership and mentoring skills.
