IT Maintenance Technician

About the role

SGS Technologies, representing Mozambique, Ltd. (a subsidiary of Société Générale de Surveillance), is hiring a Maintenance Technician in Maputo. The technician works within the Maintenance team under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and collaborates with other staff to carry out preventive, predictive, routine and corrective maintenance, often outside regular office hours.

Key responsibilities

• Execute preventive maintenance schedules and help develop and implement maintenance plans.
• Inspect buildings, facilities and equipment regularly to ensure proper function and compliance with operational standards.
• Maintain electrical, mechanical and electromechanical equipment, including power generation systems (generators, photovoltaic systems).
• Maintain data centre infrastructure equipment, excluding servers and network devices.
• Repair and install wiring, power outlets, lighting, communication cabling, and carry out painting, carpentry, door and cabinet installation, plumbing and sprinkler maintenance.
• Take part in the procurement of maintenance equipment and materials, and supervise external contractors to ensure compliance with company standards.
• Join the on-call roster and provide 24/7 emergency maintenance support, carrying a company cell phone and travelling when needed.
• Report incidents, failures and risks promptly, keep accurate maintenance records and manage spare parts, tools and fuel in line with financial controls.

Required profile

• Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, or equivalent; medium-level Electrical Technician from an industrial institute.
• At least 2 years of experience in similar operations.
• Valid professional driver's licence, category D (hazardous goods), is an advantage.
• Fluent in Portuguese and English.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of mechanical and electromechanical fields and IT installations.
• Experience with low-voltage (<600V) diesel power generation; experience with solar and wind energy preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings, write repair reports and calculate and dimension electrical installations.
• Technical skills in field operations and combustion engines.
