Joint Venture Audit Lead

About the role

The Joint Venture Audit Lead will oversee audit activities for the TEPMA1 joint venture and its MozLNG entities, ensuring compliance with complex contractual and regulatory frameworks. This senior position works closely with the Financial Controller, senior management, and external auditors to safeguard financial integrity across a multi‑layered oil & gas project.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage the annual audit calendar with external auditors and obtain stakeholder approval.
• Coordinate audit activities, maintain confidentiality, and prepare quarterly Internal Audit Committee reports.
• Lead day‑to‑day audit coordination, including scheduling, documentation, audit facilitation, and responding to auditor queries.
• Document Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) tests using internal control tools and report outcomes to senior management and the audit committee.
• Identify and mitigate business and financial risks through effective control implementation.
• Monitor and consolidate action plans from external audit corrective actions.
• Support various audits such as JV, statutory, lender, cost‑recovery, and security audits.
• Contribute to the annual update of the Risk Matrix and promote an audit‑risk culture.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Economics, Accounting, Audit or a related professional certification.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in internal or external audit and risk management.
• Strong understanding of oil & gas operations, regulatory requirements, and accounting procedures.
• Proficiency with SAP systems.
• Excellent communication, organization, and ability to work under tight deadlines in a multicultural team.
