Layer 3 Security Coordinator – Mozambique

About the role

The Layer 3 Security Coordinator will oversee security operations for logistical movements and convoy protection in the Afungi area of Mozambique. Working on a 4‑weeks‑on/4‑weeks‑off rotational schedule, the role supports an oil & gas project operating in a high‑risk, tropical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor Protection Force personnel to apply VPSHR guidelines while maintaining operational security.
• Plan and coordinate logistical movements, convoy organization, and escort services in Layer 3 zones.
• Provide security support for socioeconomic activities and conduct awareness sessions.
• Lead stabilization activities and report on security situations and threat escalations.
• Ensure compliance with TEPMA1 security SOPs for all contractor staff.
• Assess road security conditions in partnership with the Afungi security department.
• Liaise daily with local authorities, state and private security forces, and contractors.
• Monitor consumption of fuel, food, water and consumables and maintain protection setups according to protocols.

Required profile

• Fluent in English, Portuguese and Swahili; basic knowledge of local languages.
• No criminal record and valid driver’s licence and passport.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Military or police background, minimum Senior NCO rank.
• Experience working with military and police personnel in security operations.
• Ability to operate in isolated, high‑malaria zones and adhere to strict HSE rules.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy, experience with Windows operating systems.
