Layer 3 Security Coordinator (Oil & Gas)

About the role

We are seeking a Layer 3 Security Coordinator to lead security operations for an oil‑and‑gas project in Afungi, Mozambique. The role is rotational (4 weeks on / 4 weeks off) and involves protecting logistical movements, contractor convoys and socioeconomic activities in a high‑risk environment.

Key responsibilities

• Mentor Protection Force personnel on VPSHR guidelines and maintain high operational security standards.
• Plan and supervise logistical movements and convoy escorts in Layer 3 areas, coordinating with military and private security forces.
• Provide security support for socioeconomic projects and ensure updated security awareness.
• Conduct stabilization activities, assess road security, and liaise daily with local authorities, state security, and contractors.
• Monitor threat levels, report escalations and ensure compliance with TEPMA1 SOPs.
• Maintain HSE compliance, promote safety culture and oversee consumption of fuel, food, water and other consumables.

Required profile

• Fluent in English, Portuguese and Swahili; basic knowledge of local languages.
• Clean criminal record and valid driver’s licence and passport.
• High‑school diploma or equivalent.
• Military or police background, minimum Senior NCO rank, with experience working alongside military and police personnel.
• Valid work permit for Mozambique and ability to work in a high‑malaria, isolated tropical environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows operating systems and basic computer applications.
