Lead Contract Engineer (AFUNGI - ROTATIONAL)

About the role

TotalEnergies' Mozambique LNG project, located on the Afungi peninsula in Cabo Delgado province, is developing two LNG trains (13 mtpa), storage, marine facilities, utilities and early site infrastructure. The Lead Contract Engineer coordinates and supervises all contract administration for the EPC contracts covering the Onshore package, which has an estimated value of about $4 billion over four years. The role reports to the C&P Manager Onshore.

Key responsibilities

• Project restart phase: prepare change orders and amendments for package resumption, liaise with technical teams (DUET) so technical requirements are included, and negotiate with the EPC contractor and its subcontractors on restart scope, schedule and costs.
• Post-award contract management: administer correspondence, change-order logs and filing; review and validate change-order requests; manage and counter claims; ensure certificates, guarantees and insurances are in place and received on time.
• Coordinate the Contractor's monthly payment applications and verify invoices.
• Supervise Contract Engineers and Quantity Surveyors at site and provide day-to-day contractual support to the Site Management team.
• Work in line with company values, policies, laws, standards and good industry practice.

Required profile

• Qualified contracts engineer for EPC/EPCC construction contracts, with very strong knowledge of construction law.
• Proven experience managing oil and gas project construction and installation contracts from pre-award to final account, preferably on offshore/subsea packages.
• 15 years of professional experience overall, with at least 10 years in a similar position.
• Knowledge of contract administration, negotiation and monitoring of EPC/EPCC oil and gas projects.
• Ability to lead resources and direct reports, and to act pragmatically and solve problems.
• Very good command of English.
• A Master's degree in Construction Law, Business, or a qualification in Engineering/Construction Science is a plus.
