Legal Counsel – Mozambique Operations

About the role

Join a leading industrial and logistics organisation as a Legal Counsel supporting its Mozambique operations. You will work closely with the Group Legal team across Africa, handling commercial, regulatory and corporate matters in a dynamic multinational environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and operational contracts.
• Provide legal support across commercial, corporate and operational matters.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting Mozambique operations.
• Ensure compliance with corporate, commercial, employment and regulatory requirements.
• Manage company secretarial responsibilities, board documentation and statutory filings.
• Advise on employment and labour law matters.
• Oversee litigation matters and coordinate external legal counsel.
• Support licensing, permits, KYC processes and regulatory submissions.
• Develop legal templates, policies and compliance processes.

Required profile

• Law degree and admission to the relevant legal body in Mozambique.
• Minimum 5 years post‑qualification experience practising law in Mozambique.
• Strong knowledge of commercial law, employment & labour law, corporate governance, regulatory compliance and company secretarial functions.
• Fluency in English; Portuguese is highly advantageous.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

• Competitive remuneration of MZN 325,000 CTC per month (approx. R85,000), negotiable based on experience.
