Material Tester

About the role

SGS Mozambique is seeking Material Testers to support laboratory and field operations in Maputo. The role involves assisting the Laboratory Supervisor/Manager with testing tasks and maintaining equipment cleanliness.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain all testing equipment and work areas after each job.
• Perform material testing on soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregates, including bench calculations as required.
• Report deviations, irregularities, and non‑conformances orally to the supervisor.
• Complete daily timesheets accurately and follow all SGS quality and safety procedures.

Required profile

• Honor degree in Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Recognition of Prior Learning or equivalent laboratory experience.
• Proficiency in English (read, write, speak).
• Physical ability to handle and move samples.

Required skills

• Testing of soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregates.
• Bench calculation for material testing.
• Sampling and preparation of test specimens.
• Knowledge of TMH and SANS civil engineering testing methods.
