National Health Emergency Consultant – Mozambique

About the role

The National Health Emergency Consultant will support UNICEF's Child Health and Nutrition section in Xai‑Xai, Mozambique, for a two‑month, office‑based assignment. Working under the Health Emergency Officer, the consultant will strengthen coordination of emergency health activities at provincial and district levels.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen coordination mechanisms at provincial and district levels.
• Support emergency health supplies, logistics, and rehabilitation of health facilities.
• Monitor compliance with emergency health standards and ensure accurate reporting and documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in public health and emergency health programmes.
• Proven experience coordinating health emergency responses such as floods, cholera outbreaks, or displacement emergencies.
• Experience working with government health authorities in Mozambique (MISAU, DPS, SDSMAS).

Required skills

• Fluency in oral and written Portuguese.
• Ability to produce high‑quality technical reports, plans, and coordination documents.
• Experience collaborating with UN agencies, health cluster partners, NGOs, or humanitarian organisations.
