Operations Lead – Senior Manager (Mozambique)

About the role

GiveDirectly Mozambique is expanding its cash‑transfer programme and needs an Operations Lead to build and manage the country’s operational backbone. Reporting to the Country Director, you will oversee procurement, logistics, administration and human‑resources functions, ensuring the team can deliver at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead the Mozambique operations team, providing line‑management to the Office & Procurement Manager and Human Resources Manager.
• Design and implement clear roles, responsibilities and standard operating procedures for procurement, logistics, administration and HR.
• Develop scalable systems and processes, analysing speed, cost, resilience and controls, and introduce AI or digital solutions where appropriate.
• Drive continuous improvement of back‑office operations, identifying bottlenecks and implementing cost‑effective solutions.
• Collaborate with Programme, Finance, Internal Audit and Safeguarding teams to align operational support with programme growth.
• Travel regularly to field offices and program sites across Mozambique and attend occasional international retreats.

Required profile

• Proven operational expertise in procurement, logistics and human‑resources management.
• Strong leadership experience building and mentoring high‑performing teams.
• Comfortable making decisions with limited precedent in a fast‑paced, non‑hierarchical environment.
• Bias toward action, practical problem‑solving and data‑driven decision making.
