Operations Planner / Dispatching & Lifting Supervisor

About the role

Alistair Group, a fast-growing East and Southern African logistics provider with over 1,000 employees and more than 1,000 trucks, is hiring a full-time, hands-on Operations Planner / Dispatching & Lifting Supervisor in Pemba, Mozambique. The role covers daily dispatch schedules and lift plan management, directly manages crane teams and supports the Head of Operations Mozambique during their absence.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily crane, lifting and transport activities, and own all lift plans and daily dispatch for Pemba
• Coordinate crane crews (operators, assistants, forklift and crane truck operators) and ensure equipment and crews are mobilised on time
• Supervise crane crews, assess riggers and crews' competency, identify training needs and promote safety and accountability
• Ensure every lift has an approved lift plan, and monitor and intervene on unsafe practices
• Work with the Workshop on equipment availability, inspections and maintenance, and report defects promptly
• Coordinate with clients on lifting, dispatch and mobilisation, and ensure timesheets, job cards and operational paperwork are accurate and signed off
• Follow HSE requirements including Permit to Work, Job Safety Analysis, toolbox talks and stop-work authority, and support incident reporting

Required profile

• Proven experience in lifting operations, dispatch, logistics, heavy equipment or a similar operational environment
• Experience supervising crane crews, riggers and/or heavy equipment operators
• Strong understanding of HSE requirements and client-controlled work environments
• Ability to work confidently in a hands-on site environment and in remote, high-demand project settings such as Afungi/Pemba
