Project Manager – Agricultural Value Chains (Cashew & Coffee)

About the role

The Project Manager will lead the operational implementation of Nitidae’s activities within the Green Value for Growth programme in Mozambique, focusing on cashew and coffee value chains. Reporting to the Country Representative, the role coordinates field teams, consortium partners and ensures delivery of technical and financial results.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, launch and monitor activities across Nampula, Zambézia and Manica provinces, including recruitment, baseline studies and team set‑up.
• Lead technical strategy for cashew and coffee agro‑ecological practices, producer organisation strengthening and landscape governance.
• Coordinate spatial analysis, remote‑sensing and deforestation monitoring with Nitidae’s N’Lab.
• Manage budget, ensure compliance with EU and Dutch donor rules, and prepare financial reports.
• Supervise a team of over 20 staff, handling recruitment, training, performance appraisal and logistics.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in agronomy, agricultural economics, forestry, environment/biodiversity or rural development.
• Minimum 5 years of experience managing rural development or value‑chain projects in Africa, preferably with EU‑funded programmes.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multi‑partner consortia and engage with public authorities and private‑sector actors.

Required skills

• Knowledge of tropical agricultural value chains, especially cashew and coffee.
• Experience with agroecology, agroforestry and landscape‑based conservation approaches.
• Proficiency in spatial analysis, remote sensing and GIS for deforestation monitoring.
• Strong budget management, M&E and reporting skills.
