Resettlement Agriculture Livelihoods Officer

About the role

Reporting to the Livelihoods Coordinator and the Livelihoods Supervisor, the Resettlement Agriculture Livelihoods Officer oversees field implementation of livelihood programs for impacted households. The role ensures that progress reported by implementation partners is verified on‑site and that agricultural, fisheries and diversified livelihood benefits are delivered as agreed.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily field oversight of livelihood implementation partners, verifying reported progress against contractual requirements (HSE, scope, reporting).
• Validate and sign delivery certificates for agricultural starter packs, replacement trees, fishing kits and other in‑kind benefits for approximately 1,000 households.
• Identify eligible households, track delivery of commitments, and sign compensation agreements on behalf of the project.
• Monitor safety, health, environmental and social aspects of partner activities and provide performance improvement interventions.
• Serve as the focal point between implementation partners, the project team, affected households and communities, facilitating engagement and participation.
• Participate in meetings with government officials, community representatives and NGOs as required.

Required profile

• University degree in rural development, agronomy, agricultural economics or a related field.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience engaging communities for livelihood re‑establishment and development.
• Experience managing implementation partners, monitoring field activities and liaising with stakeholders.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken); knowledge of Kiswahili, Makue or Makua is an advantage.
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to build relationships with local communities, government authorities, NGOs and CSOs.
• Mozambican nationality and residence in the local area are advantageous.
