Resettlement GIS and Data Technician (m/f)

About the role

The Resettlement GIS and Data Technician will support the Socio‑economic Development (SED) team in managing and analysing geospatial data related to resettlement projects in the oil & gas sector. The role combines field work, data quality assurance and spatial analysis to ensure accurate, reliable information for compensation and community engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and oversee collection, QA/QC, analysis and distribution of terrestrial and fisheries resettlement data.
• Inspect third‑party data collection activities to verify compliance with protocols.
• Perform completeness checks on survey forms, photos, asset summaries, household agreements and proof of payments.
• Maintain secure storage, backup and archiving of physical and digital data.
• Develop and enforce data collection protocols to guarantee accuracy and legitimacy.
• Manage GIS equipment (GPS units, plotters, printers, cameras) for data capture and processing.
• Conduct spatial analyses and produce maps, progress reports and ad‑hoc information for the resettlement team.
• Provide training on data mobilisation and related processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Data Management or a related field.
• Minimum five years of experience in social geospatial data management and analysis.
• Experience with fisher and vessel registration and working with fishing communities.
• Understanding of compensation processes linked to resettlement.
• Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken).
• Strong attention to data integrity, ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Mozambican nationality and local residence are advantageous.
