Safety Culture Coach

About the role

Brunel is seeking a Safety Culture Coach to join a leading operator on a major LNG project in Afungi, Mozambique. This 12‑month contract (potentially renewable) works on a 28/28 schedule and focuses on embedding a strong safety culture across the workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Drive safety culture and leadership programmes throughout the project.
• Create and maintain plans to influence behaviours and attitudes for a positive safety environment.
• Provide structured coaching to managers, supervisors and workers, reinforcing safe practices.
• Support hazard identification, risk assessments and implementation of control measures.
• Deliver toolbox talks, safety inductions and refresher training sessions.
• Ensure safety tools and initiatives are effective and implemented.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor high‑risk activities and intervene to prevent incidents.
• Document observations, prepare reports and give feedback to management.
• Participate in investigations and REX processes as the human‑factors SME.
• Provide reports, data analysis and maintain behavioural KPIs.
• Develop and lead safety culture workshops tailored to organisational levels.

Required profile

• Confirmed Engineer or equivalent with at least 15 years of Oil & Gas HSE experience.
• Technical knowledge of safety, health and environment management, emergency management and applicable regulations.
• Good knowledge of oil‑and‑gas industry codes and international HSE standards and legislation.
• Strong team spirit, proven coordination and communication skills, ability to work transversally.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); Portuguese and French are a plus.
