Senior Accountant

About the role

CONTACT is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee accounting, financial and administrative activities in Matola, Mozambique. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will ensure reliable financial information, control, and compliance with legal and tax obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Review and reconcile daily financial transactions, manage accounts payable and receivable for a network of shops, and ensure timely tax return submissions (VAT, IRPC, IRPS, INSS).
• Monitor invoice issuance, withholding tax, asset management, depreciation, stock‑takes, and revenue reconciliation.
• Handle cash flow, liquidity, bank account monitoring, and prepare annual budgets and monthly forecasts.
• Track operating costs such as fuel, fleet maintenance, wages and spare parts, and produce financial reports and performance indicators for management.
• Supervise, guide and train administrative and accounting assistants, and represent the company with tax authorities, INSS, banks and strategic suppliers.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of senior financial, accounting or administrative management experience.
• In‑depth, up‑to‑date knowledge of Mozambican tax legislation, statutory compliance and local labour law.
• Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, organized and results‑oriented mindset.
• Excellent communication, leadership skills and high professional ethics.
• Fluent English and Mozambican nationality.
