Senior Project Manager (Implementation)

About the role

Under the Country Manager, the Senior Project Manager (Implementation) plans, organises and leads projects from initiation to closure at UNOPS Mozambique. The role acts on behalf of the Project Board, ensuring project outputs meet agreed tolerances of time, cost, scope, quality, risk and benefits, and serves as the focal point for coordination with donors, partners and beneficiaries.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, complete and update the project implementation plan, including milestones, baselines and a results framework with M&E indicators
• Implement the plan within tolerances, manage progress, variances and changes, and initiate corrective action
• Ensure quality of work packages and deliverables, liaise with suppliers and manage acceptance and delivery
• Identify and advise on mitigation of project risks, and advocate UNOPS service offerings and growth opportunities
• Prepare and issue regular project and financial reports, maintain project documentation and support audits
• Develop stakeholder engagement and communication plans and coordinate stakeholder relations
• Lead the project team, organise roles and responsibilities, select, recruit and train staff, and ensure fair performance reviews
• Create a learning environment, share lessons learned and give feedback to corporate and functional groups

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree (any discipline) with 9 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree with 7 years
• Experience implementing complex procurement and infrastructure projects or related areas
• Experience in project planning, implementation, control, communication and reporting
• Desired: project management certification from a globally recognised institute and professional certification in the technical field
