Technical Consultant – Ecosystem Protection & Climate Resilience (Mozambique)

About the role
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is seeking a Technical Consultant to support the implementation of the project “Resilient and Circular Wastewater Solutions for Post‑disaster Recovery in Mozambique”. The consultant will work on pollution reduction, ecosystem protection and climate‑resilient wastewater management in a post‑cyclone context.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in identifying and designing circular, climate‑resilient wastewater solutions for communities affected by Cyclone Chido.
- Provide technical guidance on pollution reduction, nutrient management and ecosystem protection.
- Support capacity‑building activities for local partners and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the preparation of project deliverables, reports and monitoring frameworks.
- Coordinate with UNEP’s Source‑to‑Sea Pollution Unit and other UN agencies.
Required profile
- Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, water resources or a related field.
- Experience in wastewater management, circular economy approaches and climate‑resilient infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience working in disaster‑affected or low‑resource settings, preferably in Southern Africa.
- Strong analytical and report‑writing abilities.
